The engagement party is not going down this weekend, we're having to push it back because of a death in the family. We did reschedule it for Saturday, May 30th. So I do have that to look forward to.

I did realize that I have a year now...a year from now I will be Mrs. Lewis. I am so excited to really get started. This is now officially the beginning of my planning process....I got the venue and now I need to move on and tackle more.

Since we finally have a date and a venu, my mom and Justin's mom decided it would be a good time to host an Engagement party for us. It's going to be just my family and his plus our wedding party. This way it will give all my family a chance to meet all of his family. We'll also use the evening to announce our wedding party.

It's not until May 2nd but here are the invitations I designed for it, very simple. I love damask and since it's so popular with weddings I just knew it wasn't something I wanted throughout my wedding so this was my way to get to use damask.

Can you believe it, I barely can. This was such a hard process. We are having our wedding and reception at The Gallery.

Because we waited to make a decision our original wedding date of May 15th, 2010 was already taken. So we had to change our date to May 1st, 2010. I never knew how far in advance these wedding venues book but at least they still had dates in May available.

Now the wedding plans can really begin. I am so excited to start.

Since we have not decided on a venue yet I figured I could post some of the ideas I'm working on. We (or shall I say I) decided on a theme and Justin is fine with it. I wanted something that could represent us, be a little whimsical but yet have a meaning and I found that with.......

Love Birds

I had seen a real wedding on the knot that had similiar birds and since I couldn't get those a very kind graphic designer created them for me. I love them.

Here is a sneak peak of them, you actually have already seen them, you just don't realize it. {points up to blog header & giggles} I created a little label that I may or may not use but I do think it turned out cute.

The places we visited over the weekend did not make the cut, we're still searching. I'm back to square one. I'm going back through my potential list, making more calls and setting up more appointments for this weekend. We have given ourselves two weeks from yesterday to make a decision. Keep your fingers crossed that we can find the perfect place.

This is our weekend without the kids so what are we going to do? All things wedding related....

Yes I know it's V-day but I highly doubt we will be doing to much but dinner and a movie so that leaves plenty of time for planning.

Tonight he might be working a little late and then needs to go get haircut, so after the kids leave it will be me and me only. I've got some more ideas to jot down, a few things to research and some sites I've got book marked to look through.

Saturday we have two more venues to look at. Hopefully soon we can nail this venue part down and move on. I am so ready to begin the process since there is so much I want to make but I feel wierd starting early.

Oh an it's a 3 day weekend for me!! Plus my best friend is moving back to Houston this Sunday...this weekend will be great!

No worries though I am a super being that can handle the tasks at hand, well in this case a super squirrel.

So I'm sure you are asking, why have this blog in addition to a planning bio? Well, I really don't want to put each and every detail on the planning bio, I just want to show examples and ideas and then here on the blog is where I will go into details about where I found ideas or how I did this or that, the blog will have way more detail then the Planning Bio.

Then after the wedding I really would like to print the blog and planning bio into a keepsake for myself.

I'll be updating this blog much more in the days to come, I'm gathering plenty of ideas and really want to stary showcasing them here. I've just been so hesitant because we haven't booked the venue yet and I feel like I'm putting the cart before the horse. However I think I would rather find a venue that fits well with my theme versus a theme that fits well with my venue, so I got the theme now I just need the venue.
